East London based Artist Harry Jay-Steele forges a sound of his own, with elements of Soul, Indie, African & Electronic Music weaved into a rich tapestry. Originally Hailing From Norfolk HJS moved to London to study music at Goldsmiths University following in the footsteps of artists such as James Blake, Damien Albarn, Katy B & Rosie Lowe. It was here that he began to develop his sound. Influenced by the post dub-step scene & a wave of new electronic artists such as Flying Lotus, Mala & Andy Scott but equally inspired by African artist such as Tinariwen, Ali Farka Toure & Fatoumata Diarwara.

In The coming years HJS released a set of two E.P’s and played a string of shows and festivals including Bestival, An Apple In-store & and a coveted support slot with Grammy award winning Soul artist, Michelle Ndgecello.

He then returned to the studio to embark on his next release. Citing the likes of Baaba Maal, Jeff Buckley and Floating Points as Key Influences, Jay-Steele worked with Drummer & Producer, James Macrae, to realise the conception of his majestic forthcoming debut album, Boundaries. Steele states “Boundaries speaks of confronting the self and challenging its limitations, searching for a sense of home or trying to get back to the feeling of it (Harry’s childhood home was called Boundary farm). It also alludes the geographical crossroad of musical influence found on the record. from London to Lagos, Soweto to Chicago it’s all in there”
