Hexperos is widely known and respected for their Gothic, Neoclassical chamber music, ethereal songs, heavenly voices, neo folk, medieval and celtic recalls. The albums reflect the musician's fascination for ancient times. Hexperos invites the listener to hear stories full of sublime romanticism. Nature, Celticism and myths are the leitmotif of Hexperos’ music.
Hexperos is a project by Alessandra Santovito (former founder member of Gothica), formed in 2004 together with violinists Domenico Mancini and Alessandro Pensa, percussion instruments player Francesco Savoretti, multi-instrumentalist Francesco Forgione and other talented guests like Francesca Romana Di Nicola - harp. All music and lyrics, except where mentioned, are written by Alessandra Santovito, who has got numberless experience in various music fields. In 2020 the line -up changes: Alessandra Santovito – voice, flutes, keyboards and lyra; Valentina Locci – harp; Domenico Mancini – violin; Marco Molino – percussion instruments. Featuring Loris Baccala - handpan and Lucia Antonacci - harp.
The name Hexperos derives from the characters Esperidi and from Hesperos – the first being three mythological figures, the nymphs of the evening, who take care of a tree of golden apples and sing with melodious voices, and the latter the name of a vesper star, the one preferred by Venus.
The music and lyrics, composed by Alessandra, creates an atmosphere of mysterious sensuality, romance and bittersweet melancholy.
