1985年にテレビアニメ「機動戦士Ζガンダム」のオープニングテーマ『水の星へ愛をこめて』で歌手デビュー。1991年に映画「機動戦士ガンダムF91」の主題歌『ETERNAL WIND ～ほほえみは光る風の中～』がヒットし、同年から6年連続でNHK「紅白歌合戦」に出場。

2019年から2022年にかけてリリースしたアルバム『GUNDAM SONG COVERS』シリーズは累計出荷25万枚を突破する快挙を達成。全作品オリコンウィークリーベスト3位内にランクイン。2022年に映画「機動戦士ガンダムククルス・ドアンの島」の主題歌『Ubugoe』をリリース。2023年からは“大人のためのアニソンカバーアルバム”をコンセプトとした『ANISON COVERS』シリーズをリリース。
