Born and raised in a suburb of Seattle, WA, Isaac's first step in his songwriting journey was the indie folk scene. After stumbling across Bon Iver’s For Emma, Forever Ago and Ben Howard’s I Forget Where We Were in highschool, he fell completely in love with the emotional gravity indie folk/rock seemed to have. Unable to escape that pull, he began chasing deep and introspective lyrics paired with dreamy acoustic riffs.
Isaac’s musical journey got a lot more serious when he first discovered Bleachers’ album Gone Now. This album seemed to catch him at an extremely vulnerable time in his life. Mourning the death of 4 close family members/friends and dealing with the divorce of his parents all packed into a 2 year window, he felt like life was moving on without him and his depression growing more and more dull. The discovery of Bleachers completely saved Isaac not just in a literal sense, but musically as well. Such honest and deep lyrics paired with tracks that were powerful and lighthearted opened up a new door in the songwriting process for Isaac: opening up about serious topics such as loss, grief and depression with an energetic and positive outlook.
