J Hacha De Zola (“A wild man in the vein of such fire breathing artists like Screamin’ Jay Hawkins and Captain Beefheart.” – PASTE) is a Jersey City, NJ-based “Urban Junkyard” artist who, over the course of several LPs, EPs, and iconoclastic covers of pop songs, has established himself as a singular musical force, despite his “difficult” sound. Hacha De Zola’s albums, the last one produced by legendary engineer John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Kurt Vile), are created using the artist’s personally developed “Reductive Synthesis” method of “shooting the arrow first, and then painting the target around it.” Hacha De Zola’s live shows are similarly imaginative and unpredictable (fire breathing not guaranteed!).
