East Texas outlaw honky tonk country outfit JB and the Moonshine Band were born in 2009 when singer and songwriter JB Patterson decided to give up his advertising career and start a band. He sent out an audition call in his community and only three musicians showed up, but they were the right three musicians -- drummer Gabe Guevara, guitarist Hayden McMullen, and bassist Chris Flores -- and with singer Patterson out front on banjo and guitar, the newly formed band threw together a PA and started taking any gigs it could find, fanning out through East Texas with a rented U-Haul van, building a regional fan base along the way. In the spring of 2010, the band opened a show for Colt Ford, and the group's raw sound, outlaw attitude, and original material caught Ford's attention. He signed the band to his Average Joes Entertainment label, which issued JB and the Moonshine Band's debut album, Ain't Goin Back to Jail, in the fall of 2010. A sophomore effort, Beer for Breakfast, followed from the label in the spring of 2012. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi
