I'm a bassist, vocalist, composer, arranger, lyricist, and producer. My bass lines have graced numerous movies and TV shows.
I lead my trio in clubs and concerts around the world.
I've played on over 150 albums, including 11 albums of my own. "Remnants Of Humanity" is the latest, with its wry protest tunes. "Future Christmas" was one of the top selling Indie CDs of 2014. MOOD(S)WINGS was voted one of the top three Jazz CDs of 2015 by the readers of JazzEd magazine. The documentary about me, "I Stand Corrected", has won 14 best film awards and has screened at festivals and for outreach around the world since 2012.
I was awarded the 2014 Community Leader Angel Award by the Center for Transyouth Health and Development at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, was lauded as one of the top 20 pioneers in Vanity Fair’s “Trans America” '15 Edition. In '16, L.A. Weekly named me as as one of the “50 Most Interesting Angelinos.” In '19 I spoke at Jazz At Lincoln Center's Jazz Congress and was featured twice on NowThis. In 2023, I was named a “Jazz Living Legend” by the City of Los Angeles.
I also love to play softball.
