Kayla Brianna Smith, known as Kayla Brianna, is a pop-oriented contemporary R&B vocalist inspired by the likes of <a href="spotify:artist:4qwGe91Bz9K2T8jXTZ815W">Janet Jackson</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:0urTpYCsixqZwgNTkPJOJ4">Aaliyah</a>. A granddaughter of Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee <a href="spotify:artist:09KTuJGTA2nISzHxnmYzRv">Gerry Goffin</a>, and daughter of former professional basketball player Kenny Smith, Kayla Brianna Smith was discovered by industry veteran Vincent Herbert (<a href="spotify:artist:1HY2Jd0NmPuamShAr6KMms">Lady Gaga</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1MT1Wz4G9Z9EVOg4L5zZMS">Tamar Braxton</a>) and signed to <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Interscope%22">Interscope</a>. Smith toured with <a href="spotify:artist:2waKklOyXKNqhqIOmE4yBA">Mindless Behavior</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:7t7KCNFOwuMChaQg6L8I69">Jacob Latimore</a> and recorded some material, including the 2012 single "Bombs Away" and the 2013 <a href="spotify:artist:20sxb77xiYeusSH8cVdatc">Meek Mill</a> collaboration "I Got That," while with the label. She subsequently went independent and increased her public profile on the scripted reality television series Meet the Smiths.
