A Finnish vocalist, Kirsi Ranto rose into the public consciousness when she appeared in Finnish television and won the national tango singing competition in 1998, being just 19 years old. The victory gave her a recording deal and she became a touring and recording artist in her native country. Ranto has released 6 Finnish schlager-pop albums and one album under the name Deepthi, which was inspired by her spiritual awakening and inspiration to reclaim her Finnish roots and ancestry.

In 2012 Ranto experienced a sudden voice loss which catapulted her to find a completely new voice. In her new upcoming album Tango ( Fall 2025) Ranto returns to her original musical roots with her renewed voice, and is accompanied by a composer, producer and lover of electronic soundscapes Toivanen.

Together Ranto and Toivanen are birthing a new style of tango where Finnish melancholic tango songs meet the meditative soundscape, bringing a listener to an intimate, contemplative state.

"This record feels like a full circle moment for me personally. Even though in public eye tango has been more in the background for me for the past 15 years, in my personal life it has never left me. When I was healing my voice, tango was the music that started to bring my voice back and heal my old wounds and sorrows - just like it has done for our past generations."
