Lee McKinney spent 20 years as the founding guitarist and composer of the progressive metal band Born of Osiris. 2025 found Lee breaking off from Born of Osiris to further pursue his solo career and launch his new band, Dead Air Divine. He produces, records, and engineers out of Osiris Studios.
Born Lee Patrick McKinney on April 24, 1989, he grew up in Chicago and picked up the guitar at the age of 10. Born of Osiris was offered a record contract when Lee was just 17 years old from Sumerian Records. They went on to land eight consecutive albums on the Billboard Top 200.
In 2019, McKinney released his debut solo album, entitled 'Infinite Mind' through Sumerian Records. In 2022, he followed it up with ‘In the Light of Knowledge.”
August 2024 marked a sonic change for McKinney. Introducing his vocals, “To Those Who Know Pain.” (Third album) released to widespread acclaim.
