<a href="spotify:artist:2JEmeK4NqHMXdtSMxCcWad" data-name="StarSystems">StarSystems</a> is an instrumental progressive rock fusion project by Scottish guitarist and producer <a href="spotify:artist:0eFH8raWnU62FmPbcD30XA" data-name="Joseph Stevenson">Joseph Stevenson</a>. Started in 2013 from 17 year old Joseph's bedroom studio, <a href="spotify:artist:2JEmeK4NqHMXdtSMxCcWad" data-name="StarSystems">StarSystems</a> is a whirlwind of soaring melodies, colourful chord progressions and intricate solos. Joseph has taken influence from the likes of <a href="spotify:artist:2aaLAng2L2aWD2FClzwiep" data-name="Dream Theater">Dream Theater</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3Gs10XJ4S4OEFrMRqZJcic" data-name="Plini">Plini</a> & <a href="spotify:artist:0wQa1N4q3HmLwxqkpVcYhs" data-name="David Maxim Micic">David Maxim Micic</a> to create a unique and genre-bending cocktail of expressive, melodic guitar lines, complex rhythms and rich electronic textures- from crushing metal riffs to florid, jazz infused passages.
Joseph wrote and produced 3 StarSystems EPs between 2014-2016 with the first full length album ‘Lift’ being released in 2019. StarSystems has also featured appearances from a number of artists including the likes of Dream Theater’s <a href="spotify:artist:1eAj0NmIiXgqpy5aN4GlsS" data-name="Jordan Rudess">Jordan Rudess</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6AOvXKqmqmZHxqdop7Kzoh" data-name="Sithu Aye">Sithu Aye</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4L53eKiTXJsZeaX0Q9jxMI" data-name="Jake Howsam Lowe">Jake Howsam Lowe</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:1686jEZZvNJyZrl8f0LC3J" data-name="Sean Ashe">Sean Ashe</a>.
In 2021, Joseph announced that he would not be releasing any more music for StarSystems, but continues his instrumental prog rock work with new solo project ‘Regressor’.
