Born Matt Cutler and raised in Nottingham, Lone has emerged as a standout artist over the last decade. Starting out making hip hop, he has distinctly evolved with each new release. Yet whether making house, breakbeat or jungle, his music always remains identifiable thanks to its blurry sense of rave nostalgia and bright melodic colours.
His last album 'Always Inside Your Head' showcased a new approach leaning towards a song-based sound, with tracks taking influence from William Orbit’s production on Madonna's 'Frozen', and Olive's 'You're Not Alone' but with additional influences from shoegaze icons My Bloody Valentine and Cocteau Twins.
New single 'Waterfall Reverse' combines everything we love about Lone's music into seven minutes and twelve seconds of perfection. In Cutler's own words he wanted to make something 'That plays with familiar dance music tropes; rapid breakbeats, cut up vocals, a big 303 workout but then flips into something much trippier and more ambient.'
