looms., also known as languid looms. (stylised in lowercase with a period), is a British hip-hop artist, singer-songwriter and one half of the cloak-and-dagger recording duo <a href="spotify:artist:4WQQLlpS02wm8kGeDM5Xpu" data-name="languid.oceans">languid.oceans</a>.
Backed by a line-drawn image of an unexplained face, looms. found sudden success after drip-feeding a series of intimate and alienating demos onto Soundcloud in 2015. Without the support of labels or press, his music gained millions of streams before his first official project release.
After collating his early works (2015–2017), looms. signed with L.A.'s Alpha Pup Records for 'out of innards', an eight-part EP with each track themed around a major organ. He was the first British rapper to appear on the label.
In 2023, looms. founded The Lo & Behold Construction Company with 'Saints Are Hard to Live With', a work sold directly to fans through private handwritten letters. In 2025, he was the subject of a documentary directed by Jamie Flatters (what looms.).
looms. shares no images of himself with the world, communicating solely through a private emailing ledger sent directly to fans. He’s also known to hide his face at live shows, which are often unannounced and held in odd locations, from German backrooms and London libraries to a rare four-month residency at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.
looms. continually releases music exclusively through the L&BC website, as well as periodical chapbooks by a poet named Andrew Keyman.
