Born in Cape Town, raised and based in the Netherlands; singer-songwriter Lisa Lukaszczyk forms the creative foundation for her band <a href="spotify:artist:3pBGsDYnC5jRuBro2o8wvv" data-name="Luka">Luka</a>. With her colorful voice and honest songs, she paints images that seem very familiar, yet intriguing and exciting. Inspired by artists such as <a href="spotify:artist:2RP4pPHTXlQpDnO9LvR7Yt" data-name="Lianne La Havas">Lianne La Havas</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6CWTBjOJK75cTE8Xv8u1kj" data-name="Feist">Feist</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:4LEiUm1SRbFMgfqnQTwUbQ" data-name="Bon Iver">Bon Iver</a>, Luka exhibits a sound with touches of dreamy electro-pop, folk, and soul. With only two people on stage, Luka’s live shows have proven a ‘not-to-miss’ at European festivals. Together with drummer <a href="spotify:artist:3oFVp1RAj9xzcjAr0cObB8" data-name="Joost Wesseling">Joost Wesseling</a>, both playing multiple instruments, Luka puts on a surprisingly dynamic show that varies between ethereal soundscapes and grounded uplifting beats.
After the successfully self-released debut EP <a href="spotify:album:1boVsu1WRpqYtaTfMFXC69" data-name="Welcome, Generation Everything">Welcome, Generation Everything</a> in 2018, and her Sofar Sounds session for single <a href="spotify:track:0tgJJmtzPWW945BeWVldBs" data-name="River">River</a> going viral, they ended up playing over 80 shows throughout Europe that same year. Highlights include Sziget Festival (Hungary), Motel Mozaïque (The Netherlands), and the official aftershow for <a href="spotify:artist:0TJB3EE2efClsYIDQ8V2Jk" data-name="Elbow">Elbow</a> in Amsterdam.
In 2020 her debut album <a href="spotify:album:5xUPxa7N16l9Zxjdgnvl5a" data-name="First Steps of Letting Go">First Steps of Letting Go</a> came (co-produced by <a href="spotify:artist:5sKOG7P0AQSYAgu1nTg8TS" data-name="Wannes Salomé">Wannes Salomé</a> (<a href="spotify:artist:25lIYhqIj0R1AnnmqsTrtO" data-name="Klangstof">Klangstof</a>) and Sam Jones (a.o. <a href="spotify:artist:4cm8GrJ4fx7P2h9shNhUia" data-name="LUWTEN">LUWTEN</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:59p3YuZWUKjBcwSpeAB9x4" data-name="Kim Janssen">Kim Janssen</a>) resulting in raving reviews in the press and heavy support from Spotify and radio. Luka performed ESNS ’21 and supported Klangstof’s tour in 2022, as well as <a href="spotify:artist:0c103ZyWDycpfVxR0lNrjm" data-name="MY BABY">MY BABY</a>’s tour the same year.
In April 2023, Luka released her EP <a href="spotify:album:7xGrjVZEtkqUNEg0uZyknt" data-name="Director in the Dark">Director in the Dark</a>. Four songs in which Luka attempts to get a grip on the feeling of groping in the dark.
