Brooklyn's experimental rock duo Lushes feature James Ardery on vocals, guitar, and synth and Joel Myers on drums and electronic percussion. As Lushes, they combine Ardery's punk roots with Myers' more studious background, which included borrowing CDs of <a href="spotify:artist:0Kekt6CKSo0m5mivKcoH51">Rachmaninov</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:5aIqB5nVVvmFsvSdExz408">Bach</a> from his classically trained organist father and teaching himself to play classical piano. Evoking such post-rock greats as <a href="spotify:artist:4IwOItqRhsIoRuD5HP4vyC">Slint</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:5pSqmI85JYRSjUtpFsdoon">June of 44</a> as well as contemporaries like <a href="spotify:artist:2z78AlkdwE2Ghj9EB50M6z">Liars</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:3EMSpwRtkvUTxfB4aS5xnA">Battles</a>, Lushes' debut album What Am I Doing? -- which was produced by <a href="spotify:artist:3FJ6fErQn48ILQel1yaRbv">Bachelorette</a>'s Annabel Alpers -- arrived in March 2014.
