MAGGOT HEART is the brainchild of Swedish guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Linnéa Olsson, taking cues from the rhythmic gloom of Killing Joke, the aggressive dissonance of Voivod and the reflective artistry of Patti Smith. Joined by bassist Olivia Airey and drummer Uno Bruniusson - the trio has become a much talked about force in the underground with their crossover noise rock/hard rock sound and punk ethos.
MAGGOT HEART debuted with the EP City Girls in 2017, followed by the 2018 full-length album Dusk To Dusk. The former spawned one of the “50 best songs of the year” according to Swedish radio P3, and the latter - recorded by award-winning producer Martin Ehrencrona (Viagra Boys, In Solitude) - received a P3 Guld Award nomination in Sweden for “Best Metal/Rock album of the year”.
Born in Stockholm in the late 1980’s, Linnéa Olsson has written songs since childhood. Raised on a mix of 60’s soul music, British punk and Swedish death metal, she has lived a life immersed in the underground as a writer, musician and fanzine maker. She formed her first serious band SONIC RITUAL in 2007, but gained more attention for co-founding The Oath in her new hometown Berlin in 2012. After spending a year and a half in Beastmilk/Grave Pleasures, she left in 2016 to focus on something on her own, taking Uno Bruniusson (formerly of In Solitude etc) with her into what would become Maggot Heart.
In 2020 Olsson co-founded the record label Rapid Eye Records.
