Magne H. Draagen (b. 1974) had his first organ lessons with Edvin Eriksen and Leidulf Grimsmo in Nordmøre on the west coast of Norway. After studying at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, with <a href="spotify:artist:4BygzCU5dxAdCBXZyFC8ie" data-name="Terje Winge">Terje Winge</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:1VqZ1j2EB3O3eIsPUAlAYn" data-name="Kåre Nordstoga">Kåre Nordstoga</a>, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in church music and subsequently a performer’s diploma in solo organ. soloist diploma as organist.
Draagen has held posts at Gamlebyen Church, Gamle Aker Church and Trinity Church in Oslo, as well as the position of cathedral organist in Oslo from 2002-2012, where he was director of the Oslo Cathedral Boys’ Choir. From 2010-2011 he was responsible for the choirs in Stavanger Cathedral, and since 2012 has been Director of Music at Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim. organist and choirmaster at Oslo Cathedral, where he was artistic director of Oslo Cathedral Boys Choir. From 2010-2011 he was Director of Music at Stavanger Cathedral as head of the choir department. Since 2012 he holds the position as Director of Music of Nidaros Cathedral.
He has concurrently held teaching posts in various church music disciplines at the Norwegian Academy of Music, the University of Stavanger and at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology NTNU in Trondheim.
As a composer and arranger he has produced a number of church music works for various groups of performers. As an organ recitalist he has an international reputation, and has contributed to numerous recordings both as composer, arranger, conductor, accompanist or soloist.
