As an openly queer artist since 1995, Ferrick has challenged industry norms and paved the way for others. She founded Drive Music Agency to support new indie acts and teaches music business and creativity at Northeastern University. Previously, she was an Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music and holds an Ed.M. from Harvard.
Ferrick began her musical journey in Ipswich, Massachusetts, studying various instruments and performing at local venues. Her breakthrough came in 1991, opening for Morrissey, leading to a tour and a major label deal with Atlantic Records. Her debut album Massive Blur (1993) and subsequent releases with indie labels solidified her reputation. Over her career, Ferrick has released eighteen albums and performed with diverse artists, continuing to influence and challenge musical conventions.
