You can weep and moan about lifes injustice, you can argue, cry or give up - or you fight! Michael van Merwyk choose to fight. The 6.6 ft Blues giant is no newcomer to Blues- & Roots-Music. After raising his children, he hit the road as part of the Big Daddy Wilson Trio in 2011, won the German Blues Challenge with his Band Bluesoul the very same year, placed second at the IBC 2013 in Memphis / USA and earned several Awards in Germany all praising his voice and his guitar playing.
The way which led to the development of his unmistakable and emotional style was, however, a long and rocky one. He learned his craft in the house band of the infamous ROADHOUSE in Rheda-Wiedenbrück - Germany, where jams and parties with legends like Jimmy Rogers, Larry Garner and Jimmy Johnson took place. MvM is a triple treat...a soulful and unique guitar player, a songwriter/storyteller and a soulful singer. Plus, he is one of the few exponents of Blues lap steel - a tiny instrument that sings, howls and talks. Praised by the public, musicians and critics alike, MvM is a modern day songster who has his own stories to tell and his own music to play with a tip of the hat to bluesmen and storytellers the world over. His style is unique: self-taught and highly emotional. His voice grumbles like Dr. John or Johnny Cash, his guitar playing is funky like Johnny Guitar Watson and raw like Albert King.
