Raised in New York in a church, Michelle David joined her first group, The Mission of Love, when she was five. During her career, she toured the world with Broadway musical “Mama”, contributed to successful theatre shows and recorded for artists such as Diana Ross and Michael Bolton. This all happened before releasing six critically acclaimed gospel-infused albums with the True-tones.
With their upbeat grooves, powerful vocals, and strong melodies, Michelle David & The True-tones have conquered many festivals such as Pinkpop or North Sea Jazz and numerous clubs from Spain to Scandinavia. The band's discography has also been praised: they received an Edison nomination (the Dutch Grammy) in 2019, while their LP Truth & Soul was named Album of the Month on FIP radio France and Album of the Year on BBC Radio 6 UK. The group even played on the biggest National TV show during the Winter Olympics 2022. New album “Brothers And Sisters” is out now on Record Kicks.
