Mourning [A] BLKstar is an experimental collective of artists and storytellers formed in Cleveland, Ohio. Using a core of avant poetics and exploratory beat making the band fuses classic instrumentation with new form DIY electronic aesthetics. Following the release of their first record (The Possible) the group quickly expanded, and by the time of their second release (Blk Muzak) began touring the Midwest and East Coast while writing a collection of songs that would eventually become The Cycle. 2019 brought the release of their third LP ‘Reckoning’, as the band toured much of North America and was featured on major festivals of SXSW, Nelsonville Music Fest and Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival.
With The Cycle, the band captures the engaging feel of their live show and the intimacy of a studio performance. All of the songs were performed and recorded live in former bookstore, Guide to Kulchur, which doubled as the band’s studio for 3 years
