‘Groovin’ With Mr. Bloe’, an instrumental dominated by harmonica, was put together by pianist Zack Laurence and issued on DJM Records, a division of Dick James Music. It was prevented from topping the UK chart in the summer of 1970 by Mungo Jerry’s ‘In The Summertime’. The Mr. Bloe project was abandoned after efforts including ‘Anyway You Want It’, ‘One More Time’ fell on deaf ears, despite contributions of compositions by Elton John and other James associates. The influence of the hit single was felt, nevertheless, in 1977 on the overall sound of ‘A New Career In A New Town’ on David Bowie’s Low.
