The pseudonym of New Zealand-born, Melbourne, Australia-based musician Ruby Kerkhofs, Nice Girl is a purveyor of dance and electronic grooves that offer simple, carefree fun for the dancefloor. Blending house, techno, and synth pop styles, Nice Girl's first EP was released in 2019 on the <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Houses+in+Motion%22">Houses in Motion</a> label. She then signed to label Public Perception, which issued the EPs Take a Step and Whistling Thorn in 2020. Though largely sidelined from touring by the COVID-19 pandemic, New Zealanders followed safety guidelines well enough in 2021 to welcome live performances back much earlier than most countries, and her debut album, Ipsum, was promoted by a memorable set for Boiler Room. 2022 saw Nice Girl release the EP Look at That Thing, followed a year later by the album Upp, featuring several collaborations with fellow New Zealand musician Michael Kime.
