Noland Sunn is the stage name of Rik De Maré.
Ghent-based Rik De Maré’s musical path began with a guitar gift from his nun aunt at the age of 8, and he has continued to play ever since. During his teenage years, a poster of 'Jimi Hendrix at the Isle of Wight' adorned his room, and he discovered old blues records that influenced his guitar style. His focus then shifted to songwriters, folk music, traditional music, and psychedelia. His journey included a stint with Stef Heerens band <a href="spotify:artist:4qqohKrxiozEixcmxeW3eA" data-name="kiss the anus of a black cat">kiss the anus of a black cat</a> before he launched his solo project Noland Sunn in 2022. For his first two singles, "The Promise" and "Memento Park," he collaborated with producer Pieterjan Coppejans of Robot Studio and drummer Christophe Claeys (Amatorski, Mark Lanegan).
