Northdrive

All hailing from the province of Tarlac, just about two hours “north” of Manila, NORTHDRIVE was formed in the summer of 2015. With all five members growing up in the 90’s, its pop–alternative root is evident in their compositions. The band started with singer/songwriter Ponky Lao. Ponky moved from New York to the Philippines to pursue a career in music. With the advice and guidance of his childhood friend, prominent musician/producer Ryan Sarmiento of the band 6cycleMind, Ponky decided to put together a band. Auditions followed and roles in the band were landed by members of different backgrounds with one thing in common, they are all Tarlaquenos. The five piece group immediately got to writing and started opening for national bands that would pass through Tarlac City. Their first album is being produced by Ryan Sarmiento. Their record is a nice mix of 90’s style pop-rock with a nice twist of modern instrumentation implemented and incorporated by their producer. NORTHDRIVE aspires to keep playing and releasing music in the Philippines as they continue to represent their beloved province.
