The soul duo Nu Soul Habits, composed of instrumentalist Eddie Towns, Jr. and singer Tonye Hilmon, is something of a throwback to the '60s sounds of Motown and Stax/Volt, using vintage instruments, sounds and arrangements while foregoing sampling techniques. The two met in Los Angeles in 1985 after moving west to pursue musical careers through a mutual friend and found their styles and influences compatible.
