Dance music combo Ocean Drive was born in 2008 when two French music producers -- Nicolas Carel, who specializes in electronic pop, and Just Uman, who has a background in dance music -- happened to meet at a nightclub in Miami, FL. Carel and Uman decided to collaborate on a recording project, and invited two talented associates into the studio with them -- vocalist Gilles Luka, formerly a member of the group Luka, and DJ Oriska, a club DJ known for spinning house and electro grooves. Naming their new project after a fashionable street on Miami's South Beach, Ocean Drive scored a Top Ten hit in France with their first single, "Some People (Ton Desir)," and their next two releases, "Without You (Perdue Sans Toi)" and "Because (Connecte-Toi)" also fared well on the charts. 2009 saw the release of Ocean Drive's first album, With the Sunshine; in 2010, they issued an English-language version of the song "Some People" featuring vocalist Aytar. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
