Tom Hill is a multi-instrumental recording artist and film composer. To date, Hill has released 10 albums and 3 EPs across 3 different record labels, together with a large portfolio of original scores for film and TV.
Hill first appeared as one half of the electronica duo Wauvenfold, formed in 2000. Wauvenfold delivered a session for John Peel on Radio One, produced 3 remixes for The Super Furry Animals and opened the Baltic Centre For Contemporary Arts in Gateshead, live on Radio 3.
Looking to explore other areas of music, Hill went solo under the moniker Origamibiro, where he developed skills in piano, clarinet, guitar, viola da gamba, and a whole host of found-sound percussion that evolved into a signature sound.
For a time, Origamibiro became an audiovisual trio, involving projected video art, music, and field recordings, all sculpted live onstage. Origamibiro toured Germany twice and played numerous festivals and venues throughout the UK, including Tate Modern, Cafe Oto, Cargo, Village Underground, The Big Chill, Union Chapel and Simple Things Festival in Bristol, to name a few. Reviewing a gig Origamibiro performed at Theckla, the NME wrote, “You can’t help but be impressed by Origamibiro’s audio-visual mechanics. A revelation.”
Hill has scored for BBC, Netflix, HBO, A24, Google, the Dr Who series, Oxfam and many more. “Eternal Spring”, a feature length film Hill scored, won multiple awards around the world and was Canada’s top selection for the 2023 Oscar’s.
