Formed in May of 2017, PowPig are a four-piece from Limerick City; Anna Rooney, Andreea Mocanu, Laura Drennan and Leah O’Donnell.
PowPig are as comfortable swaying away to slow alt rock wonder “Rosalee” from their debut EP “Denture Adventure” as they are rocking out to unblushing, hysterical rock track “Blue Man Child” from the same release.
Their second EP, “Buzz Buzz” was released in May 2018 and has made this 4 piece ever more popular, with more recordings in the pipeline.
Having supported acts such as Pillow Queens, Mongoose, whenyoung and Paddy Hanna, PowPig played The Irish Times podcast with Roisin Ingle on top of a late night slot at the Body&Soul festival. In 2018 they were voted in as the Viewer’s Choice Act for the Other Voice’s IMRO Other Room, and played two sets as part of the festival’s line up. They were interviewed by May Kay for the 2019 series of RTE’s Other Voices TV show.
Always in demand, PowPig have played an impressive range of venues all over the country such as Whelans, The Workman’s Club, Roisin Dubh, Dolans , DeBarra’s to mention but a few.
