A documentary about James Holden's residency with Moroccan Gnawa musicians sparked Praktika's curiosity for Africa.
In 2015, he moved to Burkina Faso for a year, then continued to
Côte d'Ivoire and finally Mali. After spending five years on
the other side of the Mediterranean, he created his first album
"Benkadi" which he released in 2021. "A travelogue where he takes his musician friends on a bus filled with acid mandingue."
From Benin to Togo, passing through Chad, Senegal, Kenya, Mayotte, Nigeria, or Tunisia, Praktika blends traditional African music in his hybrid DJ sets by edit live edits with his house and techno influences.
In April 2023, he stopped in Korhogo (northern Ivory Coast) to conduct research on the Balafon. And in April 2024, the release of his second album, which delves into a realm of cold and melodic Techno, breathing life into this ancestral instrument.
