Q5 was formed 1983 in Seattle, Washington by guitarist/inventor Floyd Rose and
singer/songwriter Scott Palmerton AKA Jonathan K.
With several songs written, they enlisted bassist Evan Sheeley, drummer Gary Thompson and guitarist Rick Pierce from local band TKO to help them with recording duties. They submitted the resulting demo to local rock impresario
Ken Kinnear, who at the time was manager of internationally-known rock band
Heart.
Kinnear signed the band to a management
contract and brought in Grammy award-winning Heart producer Mike Flicker to
record the bandʼs first album, “Steel The Light”.
“Steel The Light” was picked up by Music For Nations and released worldwide. It
was critically very well received and incredibly successful. The title song became
an anthem for people from dozens of countries, and to this day is regarded as an
iconic song of hope and victory.
Q5ʼs second album, “When The Mirror Cracks”, was released on both Music For
Nations and Mercury/Polygram.
Their third album was released in 2017
on Frontiers Records SRL. Titled “New World Order”,
Q5 has been touring and playing in Europe for many years playing in well known festivals such as Sweden Rock, Headbangers Open Air, Pyrenean Warriors Open Air, and Keep It True Festivals.

Since 2022 the line up of the band consists of singer/co-founder Jonathan K.
