Rachel LaFond is a composer & pianist living in Austin, TX. You can find her hanging from a trapeze bar, working from her home recording studio, even swing dancing on a historic dancefloor. Or she may be further afield, traveling the world in search of the best scuba diving spot or trekking into the wilderness. But she will always return home to her piano to work her magic, transforming it all into music.
Rachel combines a technically proficient approach to composition with an intuitive ability to draw in the listener & convey profound emotion. Her creative range reflects her enthusiasm for new experience: achingly introspective, whimsical & spooky, gut-wrenchingly powerful, her catalog covers it all. With a strong musical foundation & a zest for adventure, Rachel is forging a unique path as a composer, recording artist, & all-around creative human.
During a wildly ambitious 2019-20, Rachel released new music every week for a year in The 52, designing distinctive artwork for each track. Her career as a recording artist began in 2017 with the release of <a href="spotify:album:4lbsZBaKz51sNoAGELHvsA" data-name="Wandering Soul">Wandering Soul</a> - musical snapshots from a year spent backpacking around the world. She composed <a href="spotify:album:0TGdRL6u4l6j1JGsHvvHGI" data-name="Encounters of the Beautiful Kind">Encounters of the Beautiful Kind</a> while living as an expat in New Zealand, & her Halloween album, <a href="spotify:album:58hFlxDvFcRRr4qvgUc32A" data-name="Well Past Midnight">Well Past Midnight</a>, came about as a playful response to everyone telling her to write “holiday music”.
