From an early age, music and stories have been a defining part of pianist and post-classical composer Rose Riebl’s life. She began piano lessons in her hometown Melbourne at the age of five, and was soon performing and competing.

She composed her first piece for piano, cello and violin a few years later, and would often write down ideas for stories and songs in the back of her book of Beethoven sonatas.

Rose studied at Sydney Conservatorium of music, Australian National Academy of Music and the University of Vienna. She has performed classically throughout Asia, Australia and Europe. Somewhere between years of gypsy travel, a love of literature and a hunger to explore the world outside the Conservatorium practice room and concert stage, her path diverged from that of a concert pianist to composer, and her own pieces began to emerge.

Her compositional work extends her intimate relationship with the piano into a realm of more fragile, soulful and transcendent works that guide the listener into vulnerable emotional spaces.

'Do Not Move Stones' is her debut album, which was released in 2021 via Icelandic label, INNI. Since then she has released an EP, several singles and scored the Emmy nominated documentary ‘Harley & Katya’ available worldwide on Netflix

Special thanks to Anne Carson whose translation of Sappho's fragments (‘if not, winter) inspired & named many of these tracks.
