Sid Acharya is an award-winning Australian composer known for his widely acclaimed studio albums and music for film. His music has amassed millions of streams and listeners across platforms, attributed to his unique blend of ambient electronics and melancholic contemporary classical music.
Sid was born in Bangalore, India, and from 5 months old, raised primarily in Aberdeen, Scotland for the first 10 years of his life until moving to Newcastle, Australia in 2009. His exposure to a variety of cultures and locations around the world, particularly his youth in the shire of the Scottish Highlands was a key force in shaping his musical style in addition to his Indian ethnicity.
Although Sid attempted formal piano lessons for some time, he struggled to read sheet music and preferred to play by ear. As a result, Sid stopped his formal training and began experimenting with musical software and looping programs in his teenage years, prior to exploring classical music.
Sid’s music has been used for a variety of purposes with NASA, Sony, Arsenal F.C., and more. Sid also continues to release his notable studio albums such as the 2020 release <a href="spotify:album:1dzvYoKW5PM5RjcjKrpAWS" data-name="Stories from the Sky">Stories from the Sky</a>, and composes music for award-winning films.
Alongside music, Sid has a deep passion for science, and is currently undertaking his PhD - in which he uses electron microscopy to uncover the causes of pregnancy disorders, and develop new treatments to improve fetal health and prevent stillbirth.
