Rasaun “Ray” Botley aka So=Cal, Founder and CEO of Check My Mental Records, is a rare beat maker, that’s base off of soulful samples crazy’s gritty drums. He also brings diversity from the west coast funk all the way to the east coast boombap. ThroughOut his journey ,while making crazy soulful beat tapes, he worked with gifted artists along the way, such as Brotha Foogee, Demme Parks, Izreal Jakob, Marv Won, Joell Ortiz, Sky Zoo, Boog Brown, Fatt Father and Jordan S. His style of music has brought everyone from Inglewood, Detroit, New York all the way to Connecticut. Most say he’s the next Apollo Brown, Rza, 9th Wonder you name it. He recently dropped two projects, one with Detroit’s battle rap legend, Marv Won called “Make Due” and Marine veteran Jersey’s own , Brotha Foogee called , “Divinty” with Slaughter house legend, Joell Ortiz, making his appearance on a single “Last Call”.
