With an indie surf rock twist, The Abstracts formed to spread San Diego sounds paved by locals blink-182, The Frights, and Beach Goons.
Lyricist/rhythm guitarist Pablo Godoy, lead guitarist Carlos Hernandez, bassist Erik Perez, and drummer Christian Velazquez formed in 2016. Through shared artistic influence from <a href="spotify:artist:0epOFNiUfyON9EYx7Tpr6V" data-name="The Strokes">The Strokes</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:7Ln80lUS6He07XvHI8qqHH" data-name="Arctic Monkeys">Arctic Monkeys</a>, the band established their signature sound by blending surf punk and mellow riffs in their garage-recorded SWIM EP (2017).
Maybe Baby (2019) off their upcoming debut album was soon released featuring a matured overnight evolution of the band.
Over 100,000 all-time streams later, The Abstracts plan to expand their sound with a new project in 2020.
