The Exploding Boy was formed in January 2006 by Johan Sjöblom (Prune, Fake Moss) and Lars “Les” Andersson (Kodji, Run Level Zero).
The original setting with Johan, Les, Stefan, Nick, Mario and Tord lasted for one album, then Tord and Mario left the band, and The Exploding Boy kept on going with the missing instruments on backing track. At Wave Gotik Treffen 2015 two more members were added, Mattias on bass (Paris) and Richard on Drums (IAMX, Melody Club). The first album together as the "new" Xboy was released in 2018 - Alarms!
2019 it is ten years since the release of the classic album AFTERGLOW, so The Exploding Boy is celebrating this with a German anniversary Tour in September/October 2019.
2023 a anniversary deluxe edition of the debut album THE EXPLODING BOY is released on vinyl, and in connection with that 2 unreleased songs are out as singles.
2025 the band is booked at the classic Leipzig festival Wave Gotik Treffen.
In 2026, The Exploding Boy turns 20 years - let’s celebrate!!!
