The Explosion was formed in 1998 by Matt Hock, Dave Walsh, Damian Genuardi and Dan Colby, adding guitarist Sam Cave soon thereafter. Its first release, a self-titled EP on Jade Tree in 2000, was followed by the full-length Flash Flash Flash later the same year. Andrew Black replaced Dan Colby on drums and the band released the Steal This EP on Revelation, followed by tours with groups like The (International) Noise Conspiracy, Rocket From The Crypt and Cave In. In 2003, The Explosion released yet another EP, Sick Of Modern Art, on their own Tarantulas imprint before moving to Virgin. Black Tape, the band’s major label debut, was released in 2004. Cave departed later that year and was replaced by Chris Gonzalez. In 2007, the band completed Bury Me Standing, and were subsequently let go from their contract with Virgin. Bury Me Standing was finally released in 2012 on Chunksaah.
