Coming from the deep south-west of Australia, The Floorboards have quickly become notorious in our area with works that demand the audience's ear. The Floorboards started when we were only 14, and instantly created a hit with Waiting on the Weekend, which made its place permanently into listeners' thoughts. This reaction inevitably caused the creation of more songs (to be recorded), bringing interesting stories of the creative process and making great fun of each other.
The Floorboards came together in 2023, with four friends in a music class most of which were trying something completely new when we came together. We had heaps of fun making noise at school, and we began meeting at our singer Linden's house for practices. We learned covers and mastered Waiting on the Weekend, performing at every opportunity, and sometimes not getting a break in months. However, something special happened when we performed at Balingup's Battle of the Bands, hosted by producer Chris 'Rocket' Baker, and local musician @Beth_Chia. Leading up to the performance, Beth and Rocket held an interview and a songwriting workshop, where we wrote another song based on the flashing patterns of lights on the Jurien Bay shore. After quickly writing this and one more song, we qualified to the competition, and ended up victorious over very capable competition. The prize was a recording session with Rocket himself. We used this to record and release Waiting on the Weekend, our debut single.
