The Gaslamp Killer (real name William Benjamin Bensussen) is a Los Angeles–based DJ, producer, and beat visionary — a founding figure of Low End Theory and the curator of his Airplane Mode residency. What sets him apart is a deep, encyclopedic knowledge of global sound: library music, psychedelic rock, bass-heavy instrumental hip-hop, Middle Eastern and Indian rare grooves, Afro-Latin rhythms, and some of the dirtiest breakbeats on earth.

His discography is a testament to his untamed creativity: his debut album Breakthrough dropped in 2012, followed by The Gaslamp Killer Experience LIVE in 2015, Instrumentalepathy in 2016, Heart Math in 2020, Legna with The Heliocentrics in 2023 and most recently ANANDA with Jason Wool in 2024 and they all reflect a commitment to analog warmth, textural detail, and cross-cultural dialogue. On stage, his performances function as immersive listening environments, weaving rare grooves, field-recording–influenced selections, and electronically manipulated compositions into cohesive, narrative-driven sets.

He earned the name The Gaslamp Killer in his early club days for doing exactly what he still does best: wrecking dancefloors with the wrong records at the right time — Expect an international barrage of sonic madness: Turkish delights, Arabic anomalies, French fantasias, Brazilian burners, psychedelic meltdowns, tormented soul, monstrous breakbeats, and all manner of electrified chaos.
