A project launched in 2003 by producer and DJ Chris Alfaro, Free the Robots is sample-heavy, left-field hip-hop act in the spirit of <a href="spotify:artist:29XOeO6KIWxGthejQqn793">Flying Lotus</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:1YRGQOk4Mk9EpM6nTJhXtK">Daedelus</a>. The project made its debut in 2005 with the self-released LP Prototype, and Alpha Pup Records released his sophomore album, Ctrl Alt Del, in 2010. Alfaro then returned to his own name, working with acts like <a href="spotify:artist:43SXnO2N4X024u3l9MfvXD">Busdriver</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:3a9qv6NLHnsVxJUtKOMHvD">Glitch Mob</a>, and Free the Robots returned with the 2013 album The Balance. In 2015, he teamed with <a href="spotify:artist:0XTSrpKEUhzQ5aiYswppxh">Hieroglyphics</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:5Rzqmz1zAszembFHGZQuAt">Souls of Mischief</a> MC <a href="spotify:artist:1dpAIrpTGOrblTYJHpE8ao">Opio</a> for the album Sempervirens. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
