Originally conceived as a solo project, singer/songwriter Dan Bakkes and her collaborative project known as The Great Yawn are a slow burning trip through dreamy landscapes, lyrical wonderlands, and poignant longing. The Great Yawn released their largely self-produced 2nd album 'The Waves, The Tide And The Moon' in 2020, dipping only slightly out of the weighty sound that informed so much of their debut 'Botanica'. The forthcoming 3rd album titled 'Blue Lawns' explores a lot of new territory in terms of instrumental choices, groove, and tempo, but will remain true to The Great Yawn's distinctive melancholic output. Since their formation in 2017, they have performed in a variety of spaces like backyards, dive bars, barber shops, galleries, drawing workshops, weddings, memorials, as well as clubs and festival stages - a testament to The Great Yawn's ability to shape-shift, explore and create their own musical playground.
