Though the members of Orange County punk pop group the Lovely Bad Things had known each other since high school (or before, in the case of siblings Brayden and Camron Ward), they only formed a band once they had graduated. Coming together in 2009, the Wards, Tim Hatch, and Lauren Curtis trade off vocals and instruments while playing a fast, funny, and loose brand of punky garage pop inspired by <a href="spotify:artist:6zvul52xwTWzilBZl6BUbT">the Pixies</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0sTTw3dw3EA0c7NaZnrJd2">the Wipers</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:1USc9u5yL4tUaQKhGWNuvj">Redd Kross</a>. The energy of their live shows and the strength of their songwriting brought them to the attention of the famed <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Burger+Records%22">Burger Records</a> crew, who released the band's New Ghost/Old Waves cassette in 2011. It was reissued in 2012 by <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Volcom%22">Volcom</a> on CD and LP. The same label combo released the band's Jon Gilbert- (<a href="spotify:artist:4fY9hRf8gHMOszNWFhR1wB">OFF!</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:40HeNm05FEAxGx8gUOV4my">the Soft Moon</a>) produced full-length, The Late Great Whatever, in early 2013. In 2015, the group released a single, "Space Waste" b/w "Always Lazy," and in 2017, they dropped their second full-length album, Teenage Grown Ups, via <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Burger+Records%22">Burger Records</a>.
