Las Rosas formed in Brooklyn, New York in 2013 with guitarist Jose Boyer, bassist Jose Aybar, and drummer Christopher Lauderdale. Boyer had previously found success as a member of Matador Records act Harlem while also playing in Daytona with Lauderdale. Aybar, meanwhile, was recruited after being seen playing with Brooklyn cult rock band Wild Yaks. Their Burger Records-issued debut EP, "Flower in the Sun" arrived late that year, followed in 2014 by "Ms. America". Rising from their lo-fi origins, the band released their debut full-length "Everyone Gets Exactly What They Want" in 2017, showcasing a natural flair for hooks and harmonies.

Paralleling the moves of like-minded rock acts such as King Tuff and Doug Tuttle away from the garage, the band headed further into fuller-fleshed, studio grade territory in 2018. That year saw an expansion of their live lineup with the release of the single "Christa", and the announcement of their second LP, "Shadow By Your Side" via Greenway Records, mixed by Kevin McMahon (Swans, Real Estate), which gives up some of the band's loose jangle, casting a darker psych-rock backdrop for the band’s brand of upbeat skepticism.
