In 1977, Richard Anthony Hewson formed his legendary synth-boogie outfit, The RAH Band, of which he was the sole member and which took its name from his initials. The RAH Band had a string of hit pop records, kicking off with instrumental debut ‘The Crunch’ which climbed to #6 in the UK charts. A number of jazz funk releases followed in the early ‘80s, as well as the then lesser known ‘Messages From The Stars’ in 1983 (which is now a TikTok viral sensation), all of which charted in the Top 50. The second big hit single was in 1985 with ‘Clouds Across the Moon’, which also reached #6 in the charts, featuring vocals from his wife at the time, Liz “Dizzy Lizzy” Hewson. The RAH Band released five albums between 1977 and 1998 and are considered a pioneering force of the ‘80s jazz funk and boogie era. Richard Anthony Hewson’s pioneering analog sound truly transcends generations.
