Emerging from Seattle's mid-2000s music scene, The Sight Below blends ambient, shoegaze, dub techno, and experimental electronic music. Layers of processed guitar, subtle electronics, bass pulses, and shifting textures evoke half-remembered dreams, faded film reels, and moments of quiet reflection.
The Sight Below debuted with Glider and the No Place for Us EP on Ghostly International in 2008, establishing a sound shaped by shoegaze, minimal techno, and the atmospheres of Twin Peaks. The releases earned critical acclaim, with AllMusic describing the work as “impeccably made ambient thump-and-drone,” while Pitchfork praised its “beautifully bleak cloud of sound.” The 2009 EP Murmur expanded the project’s ambient and dub-techno direction, while 2010’s It All Falls Apart broadened its emotional scope. During this period, The Sight Below performed internationally, appearing at festivals including Sónar, MUTEK, Unsound, and the Detroit Electronic Music Festival.
The project has remained largely inactive over the past decade, with rare live sets and remixes for artists like <a href="spotify:artist:7Go2Fj2YWEQkYBqTVQArYi" data-name="Pantha Du Prince">Pantha Du Prince</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:2rcnAZ6DvORQ365X3zVYpr" data-name="Biosphere">Biosphere</a> while Irisarri has focused on solo work, collaborations with artists such as <a href="spotify:artist:4bNteCe0Beu161GmkB8Rq7" data-name="Abul Mogard">Abul Mogard</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:77SQlBEZyyJ7neYnlp0cDl" data-name="Benoît Pioulard">Benoît Pioulard</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:2L00vHmYcwC9OlsEv6M5UO" data-name="Steve Hauschildt">Steve Hauschildt</a>, and his work as a mastering engineer and producer.
