Named in tribute to one of the key members of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Delia Derbyshire Appreciation Society are an ambient duo consisting of British musicians Garry Hughes and New York-based Harvey Jones. <br></div><div><br></div><div>Hughes has played keyboards for numerous artists including Björk, Youth, Sly &amp; Robbie, and the Art of Noise. He co-founded Bombay Dub Orchestra in 2001. Jones has worked extensively with Chris Botti ,Donna Lewis and Gabrielle Roth &amp; the Mirrors, and appeared on recordings featuring Carla Bley, Sting, and Robert Fripp. <br></div><div><br></div><div>The two have been friends since the 1980s, but DDAS is their first project together. Utilizing a boutique of historic analog synthesizers, Mellotrons, and effects, the duo craft melodic, ambient compositions sometimes reminiscent of the genre's '70s pioneers. Their self-titled debut album was released by Six Degrees in 2017, preceded by the single "Blue Filter." The duo also remixed Fripp &amp; Eno's "Evening Star." <br></div><div><br></div><div>2018 saw various remix exchanges between DDAS and artists such as Brazillian Girls, The Real Tuesday Weld, Mirror System (Steve Hillage &amp; Miquette Giraudy) and The Silver Lake Orchestra. October 2018 sees the release of their second record “Wow and Flutter” on San Francisco based label Six Degrees Records.
