The Twilite Tone is a multifaceted creative who has contributed to several globally impactful projects throughout his career. The 5x Grammy Award nominee got his first big break in the ‘80s, working closely with fellow Chicagoans and childhood friends Common and No I.D. who formed the hip-hop group: C.D.R. Tone co-produced much of Common’s debut album, Can I Borrow A Dollar. In 2012, Tone was invited to a birthday party of Common, where he casually reconnected with Kanye West. Eager to work with Tone, they didn’t waste any time getting in the studio where they created the iconic track: “Mercy”. The reconnection with Kanye in 2012 led to Tone’s work with John Legend, which led to working with Pusha T and Big Sean. This momentum ultimately led to Tone contributing his sound to the Gorillaz 2017 release, Humanz. In 2018, after reconnecting with DJ Peanut Butter Wolf via a mutual friend, The Twilite Tone signed a deal with Stones Throw Records for the release of his first full-length debut, The Clearing. Two years after his debut album, Tone is moving into the now as he approaches his sophomore release.
