Kunde

Kunde (Ku:ndeɪ) aka Joram Kunde Boumkwo, is a Belgian-Cameroonian rapper, producer and multi-instrumentalist who fuses hip-hop with elements of contemporary jazz, neosoul and Afro-beat. He started beatboxing and beatmaking at the age of ten and later found his to the piano, the mic and the bass guitar. He is completely self-taught which adds to his groove-based yet harmonious sound. Think of a mixture Quincy Jones and Kendrick Lamar .
His debut album Dandelion released on W.E.R.F. Records early 2024. In this album he uses storytelling, rap, and spoken word as a vehicle to delve into themes such as the complexity of the Afropean identity, toxic masculinity, intergenerational trauma and neocolonialism.

All 15 tracks were composed, recorded, produced and mixed by Kunde, with contributions from Susobrino (BAD MAN), Helena Casella (You Should Know), KMFD on the saxophone (Twenty, Everytime, Ancêtres and You Should Know) and Pieter Vanoverberghe on the drums (Unwanted Flower and Blowing In The Wind). Like the little bud of the dandelion that is blowing through the winds of time, Kunde invites you to join him on his journey, looking for a place to call home.

In 2021, he released the introspective instrumental album Meanwhile the Antwerp-based San-Kofa Rhythm Records by DTM Funk. Before that, he released his EP From Roots to Fruits (2018) under the Ghent-based platform Mellow Minds. He's currently working on another LP scheduled for release in 2026.
