The Ugly Ducklings were one of Canada’s first totally independent bands and stayed together for 39 years (1965 – 2004), releasing 8 LPs and 2 EPs & 1 Single. Their strength was in their songwriting and a very rough and ready style of Rock. (which later came to be known as ’Garage’). They produced all of their own records except for 2 singles on the Yorkville label, which were produced by Grammy award winner Brian Ahern. Their last album 'S.N.A.F.U.' was produced by Juno & Grammy winner Peter J. Moore. Their self-produced first album, ‘Somewhere Outside’ is a classic of the ‘garage’ genre, and was voted #72 in the Top 100 Canadian Albums of all time for the book of the same name in 2007. During the down-time in-between the ‘Ducks’ many ‘comebacks’, their lead singer Dave Bingham continued to record and perform with many other bands in both Canada and Mexico. These included 'Papa Grey', 'Sleight of Hand', 'Bingham, Bertok & Hovercraft' & 'The Crackerjack Blues Band' as well as 'The Lost Chords'.
